Multimedia Overview
What is Multimedia?
It's what you get when audio, video and graphical content are combined into a presentation that can be run on your computer - either delivered online or via the medium of a CD or DVD-ROM disc.
The glue that binds these elements together is the programming. Sounds Good's programmers and designers can take your audio, video, and graphical content (such as pictures or Powerpoint slides), design navigation menu screens, and program it together into an attractive interactive multimedia presentation.
Sounds Good has even developed its own content delivery platform, the 'Presenter'. It's a cost-effective modular system into which content can be inserted - saving time and money by reducing the need for custom programming on each new project. Click here for more information.
Sounds Good can also produce Flash and HTML/CSS content for your website. Click here to see some examples of Flash animation.
Document distribution:
Multimedia doesn't have to be about big impressive presentations. Even in these web-centric days, it's still often better to distribute large amounts of data via CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. By using discs you can ensure the right people get them, without worrying if they’ve got broadband, and without large ongoing bandwidth usage on your website.
But rather than just giving out a disc with maybe hundreds of files and folders to trawl through, why not have Sounds Good build a custom front-end menu from which they can browse and launch any type of documents (e.g. Word, Excel, PDF, JPEG etc.). It could even check your website to warn the user if the files on disc are out of date.
Enhanced CD:
Another simpler form of Multimedia is Enhanced CD.
If you're releasing an audio CD and have spare space on the disc, you can delight your fans with extras like video clips, photos and information about the band - combined into a mini-presentation and navigated by a custom menu screen. The audio portion plays like a normal CD, and the data portion can be designed to run on both PC and Mac systems.
Our joined-up services for content preparation and creation:
Sounds Good is in a unique position to take care of your next multimedia project from start to finish. We can provide...
- Audio specialists and facilities for mastering, editing and preparation of audio content.
- Video technicians and studio for authoring, editing, transfers and preparation of video content.
- Graphic designers who can prepare your graphical content and even create custom graphics, including animation and 3D.
- If you don't have existing content, then we can record it for you. We can handle audio and video recording of large-scale events, or small sessions or meetings in your own premises.
Working from your brief, our experts will work closely with the programmers to produce your presentation. Once completed, if you need it on CD or DVD-ROM, we can design and print the packaging, and manufacture the discs for you.
Some examples of Multimedia in action:
Turn a conference, promotional event or training session into a CD-ROM:
Let's suppose you have just had a conference, or a promotional or training event - you may already have audio and video recordings of the speakers, plus copies of their Powerpoint presentations. Sounds Good can take this existing content and turn it into a multimedia presentation that anyone can play on their computer. Likewise, using existing photos from a printed catalogue, or video footage and diagrams from training materials, we can create an interactive catalogue or training programme.

Bespoke end-user training presentation:
One of our corporate clients produces a leading software system used by brokers for quoting for financial services. They needed a training programme for online delivery to let the brokers familiarise themselves with new aspects of the software. Click here to find out how our ability to record original content, together with our 'Presenter' technology, provided a cost-effective solution...
Turn a printed directory into a CD-ROM and online searchable resource:
Another client publishes a monthly technical journal and trade directory. They need to take the directory information and have it made into both an online directory and a CD-ROM to give away as a cover mount on a forthcoming edition of the journal. Click here to find out what we did for this client...
Enhanced CD: Audio plus video clips or data files:
One of our band clients had a CD album ready to go. They also had some good quality video footage shot at a recent festival. They asked us to put it together as an Enhanced CD, i.e. audio playable as normal on a CD player, plus a data portion containing the live video clips for PC/Mac playback.
