Sounds Good: how it started...

Sounds Good was formed in 1987 to supply professional audio cassette duplication, manufacturing chart hits by such acts as Oasis, The Smiths, The Sundays, The Levellers, Carter USM, Edwyn Collins, Elastica, KLF, Placido Domingo, Leslie Garrett, Divine Comedy, The Orb, the list goes on....

Since then, the Thames Valley based company has established a reputation for providing quality and service to a wide variety of customers - corporate clients, including such major names as The AA, British Gas and Glaxo SmithKline, and music-related clients - from individual bands and artists to leading independent record labels.

Directors Martin Maynard and Henry Smithson have between them over fifty years of experience in professional audio, and have assembled a team, based here at the headquarters in Theale, with the knowledge and expertise required to provide the additional services that have been added along the way.

How it has evolved...

In 1992 Sounds Good pioneered a CD pressing service, which for the first time included cost-effective CD Audio Mastering, aimed at smaller record labels and individual bands and artists. After a few years, with the rise of CD-ROM, the company started to acquire more corporate clients, and we reacted to their need for quick response by adding new services: firstly, in-house graphic design and reprographic film output; and secondly, shortly afterwards, our express CD-R Duplication service for speedy turnaround of short runs of CDs.

DVD Replication was launched in 1999 and since then we have been extending our range of services to include DVD-R Duplication, again for quick turnaround of short-run quantities; DVD Authoring and video editing & encoding in a brand new studio; plus enhanced design expertise that now encompasses web design and multimedia authoring.

In order to give our customers the best looking duplicated discs, Sounds Good opened its in-house digital print facility in 2003 to provide high-quality short-run packaging. We also developed and refined the ‘Precision Laminate’ on-disc print system – which now provides the highest quality on-disc print currently available for duplicated discs. In early 2006 we added new digital print technology aimed at producing print-on-demand manuals and booklets.

Since then, we've added a brand new service: Radio communications - sales, hire and consultancy for handheld communications. Easy 'press-to-talk' communication for large sites or establishments, event management, safety & security, emergency co-ordination, etc. We've also been refining our voice-over facility to make it big enough for two people, and we're about to install ISDN connectivity - making it possible to send full bandwidth voiceovers to worldwide studio locations.

The present and the future...

Here's our latest service for 2008 - full colour hi-res promo printed USB Drives (not the usual 2-3 colour screen print - although that's available if you want). You can have these blank or preloaded - that is, duplicated with your data. Also, we can supply a wide range of other USB stick styles - blank or duplicated. And we can even duplicate your own sticks for you.
